Last week we had two guests in our department! On monday the South African designer and artist Jamal Nxedlana presented his work and gave an insight on the contemporary visual language Johannesburg. Jamal Nxedlana is a visual artist working primarily in video and photography. His work as an artist has mostly been as a founding member of CUSS a Johannesburg based artist group producing work that “responds to commercial, cultural and technological super-hybridity through the filter of urban trends, material artifacts, and youthculture in contemporary post-post-colonial South Africa”. Nxedlana is also the founder and creative director of Bubblegum Club a Johannesburg based digital publication and content production studio presenting an alternative narrative on South African art and society.

On wednesday we had the pleasure to have John Morgan in our department! After a day of talking to our students about their projects he performed his Play ""BLANK DUMMY“ with our students as actors! John Morgan is a designer and founder of John Morgan studio based in London. In 2017, he co-founded Abyme an independent publisher of artist’s editions and multiples. He is professor for Entwurf, Typografie, Buchkunst at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.
